Youth clubs from across the country came together in Lincoln to compete for a national table tennis championships title.

The National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs Table Tennis Championship took place at Dean’s Leisure on the Lincoln College site on Monks Road on Saturday.

The tournament was hosted by Lincolnshire Youth Association and the Lincolnshire Table Tennis Association.

The County Durham team were pronounced competition winners with finalist rankings for Lincolnshire, Birmingham West Midlands, Essex, Greater Manchester (Salford Lads Club) and Wales.

LYA Director Professor Charles Shaw said ‘it’s fantastic to keep this National Competition in Lincoln after competition from other areas – the young people are marvellous and the atmosphere is great.’

Awards to winners and finalists were presented by the Mayor of Lincoln Councillor Chris Burke, assisted by The Sherriff of Lincoln Ms John Rimmer and The Mayoress Mrs Sue Burke.

National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs rep Simon Healey congratulated Lincolnshire on a “First class competition and venue in a first class city”.
