A man is being interviewed by police after a woman’s handbag was snatched on Lincoln High Street.

An eyewitness told reporters that the suspect was chased down the street by two good samaritans, who kept hold of him until police arrived on scene.

The incident happened at around 10.45am on Tuesday, July 18 on Lincoln High Street. It was reported the woman’s handbag was snatched from her outside the Pandora shop before the robber fled in the direction of St Mary’s Church.

David Oflanagan told The Lincolnite: “Two men ran after him and cornered him at St Mary Le Wigford Church.

“They held him down and went to get the old woman and waited until the police arrived.

“Once the police arrived the two men shook hands and then carried on with their day.”

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that a suspect is now being interviewed following the incident and the woman has been reunited with her bag.

Police are dealing with this under incident number 143 of July 18.
