Lincoln man dies in lamppost collision [U1]

Unfortunate: A 68-year-old Lincoln man died in a road accident near Horncastle on Sunday.

Police named the motorcyclist killed in this collision as Beverley Douglas Gibbard (68), known as Doug, of Grosvenor Road, Lincoln.

The collision also involved a white Mercedes Sprinter van. The driver of this vehicle is reported as unhurt, though no other details are available at the moment.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the white van on the A158 before the time of the collision or anyone who saw the motorcycle, either on the A158 or earlier in the day, on the B1225 Caistor High Street road.

This fatality brings to 37 the number killed on Lincolnshire’s roads this year, compared to 36 at the same time last year.

A 68-year-old Lincoln man died on October 17 after colliding with a lamppost on the A158 Lincoln Road at Baumber, near Horncastle.

The man, who was riding an orange Honda XL motorbike, was pronounced dead at the scene, after Police were called at about 1.30pm.

The road was closed for a short time after the incident, and no other vehicles were reported to be involved.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and help them with their enquiries by calling the non-emergency number 0300 111 030.
