Punch and Judy return to Lincoln

Lincoln by the sea: Master puppeteers will be entertaining Lincoln crowds ahead of the sandy beach arriving in the city.

The famous seaside puppet duo will be in Lincoln for the fifth year for the Punch and Judy Fair at the weekend.

Families will be able to catch the puppets’ performances in a variety of locations on Saturday, July 30, between 10am and 4.30pm.

The fair has been organised by Professor John Thursby, the Punch and Judy Fellowship’s Treasurer, with help from Lincoln BIG.

On Saturday, Professor Thursby and Professor Clive Chandler, Puppeteers UK chairman, will be entertaining crowds on High Bridge.

Paul Jackson and Chippy Wood, who is a full-time Punch and Judy man and a member of the Inner Magic Circle, will be performing on the High Street, and Paul Wheeler and Gary Trimby will be in St Mark’s Square.

This is all in preparation for Lincoln by the Sea, which begins August 1 and runs until August 27, where families will be able to enjoy more performances from the puppets and their friends for free.

There will also be a number of children’s attractions around the city this summer, such as a pirate ship, which will be launched August 1 by a stilt-walking pirate.

There will also be a new attraction, Water zorbing which will be on offer from August 11 to 15.
