Cold caller burgles 98-year-old woman

Cold calling: The offender knocked on the door of the pensioner’s house and asked for a glass of water.

Police are appealing for information after a distraction burglar stole form a 98-year-old woman in Lincoln.

This incident took place at around 7.45am on September 1 in St Clement’s Court in Lincoln.

The offender knocked on the door of the pensioner’s house and asked for a glass of water.

She let him in and a short time later found him looking through drawers in her bedroom. The man then left the house. A small quantity of cash was stolen.

Residents are being urged to never let “cold-callers” into their homes and to ring the police immediately.
