Lincoln drivers are advised to avoid the High Street area in the evenings this week and during the day on Friday, as work on the road nears completion.
Further road surface repairs are being carried out and temporary traffic lights will be in place between 6.30pm and 11pm on Monday to Thursday evenings, and between 7.30am and 6pm on Friday.
Paving slabs are also being replaced on the High Street between St Marks Street and the level crossing at night between 17 and 31 October, which isn’t expected to cause any disruption.
Senior Engineer, Peter Saxby, said: “We’ve arranged for these further repairs to be carried out mainly during the evening this week, keeping disruption to an absolute minimum for drivers.
“I would like to thank everyone for the patience over the summer.
“Motorists will find they can get from A to B much more quickly when the work is finished and pedestrians will notice high quality pavements under foot and more reliable public transport.”
New parking bays were built and footpaths were repaved in July on the High Street.
Extensive work to replace traffic lights, repave footpaths and resurface Dixon Street between the High Street and Boultham Park Road took place over the summer.
The work is expected to be entirely finished by the end of November.

Campaigners in the Lincolnshire Wolds have launched a bid to raise £20,000 to fund a legal challenge against a planning inspector’s decision to allow oil drilling in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The inspector authorised Egdon Resources to proceed with oil drilling in Biscathorpe, despite acknowledging the project’s potential harm to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Now, local group SOS Biscathorpe, which has been fighting the plans, is urgently seeking to raise £20,000 to fund their appeal against this ruling. So far, they have raised more than £3,600.
Residents, visitors, and traders have expressed their disappointment following the cancellation of the beloved Lincoln Christmas Market, on what would have been the inaugural day of this year’s four-day event.
Although the poor weather might have deterred some people, the city’s Bailgate area was notably quiet around 12pm on Thursday, typically the time the event usually opens its doors.
