Zane Lowe to headline again University of Lincoln Freshers’ Week

Freshers’ events: Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe will be headlining again this year’s University of Lincoln Freshers’ Week, in a week-long line-up.

— Update: Sub Focus had to pull out of his gig at Engine Shed. He will be replaced by Nero.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe will be headlining again this year’s University of Lincoln Freshers’ Week, which takes place September 16-22.

Guest appearances throughout Freshers’ Week 2012 include regular DJ Zane Lowe, Nero, Fish on Percussion and James Buckley of The Inbetweeners.

Two new club nights — Shuffle and Propaganda — will also be launched, and Lincoln Carnival will kick off the proceedings.

Highlights from the week include:

  • Sunday 16, 10pm: Lincoln Carnival with Britain’s Got Talent’s Fish on Percussion;
  • Monday 17 — 9am: Poster sale; 10.30pm: Zane Lowe DJ set;
  • Tuesday 18 — 10am: Freshers’ Fayre; 7pm: The Big Quiz; 10.30pm: Mutiny;
  • Wednesday 18 — 10am: Sports Fayre; 10.30pm: Shuffle featuring Nero;
  • Thursday 20 — 10am: Societies and Groups Fayre; 10.30pm: Paint Party;
  • Friday 21 – 8pm: Superfunk Roller Disco; 10.30pm Gin & Juice;
  • Saturday 22, 10.30pm — Propaganda featuring James Buckley;
  • Sunday 23, 10.30pm — Pride

There are a number of other events happening around the city during the day to settle new students into life in Lincoln.

On September 23, the Carholme Community Gala returns, for local residents and students to engage, alongside stalls, activities and refreshments.

There’s also the Ghost Walk, films on the main campus, Playzone, student night bowling, Student Union volunteering and job shop, Cathedral roof tours, circuit training and games.
