Thousands of tourists flocked to Lincoln Castle over the Bank Holiday weekend to see the magnificent new ceramic poppy display on show over the summer.

Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed that a total of 28,000 visited the castle to see the sculpture.

Around 6,500 people visited the castle on Saturday, May 28, where over 5,000 ceramic poppies are displayed to the public.

On Sunday, May 29 the wave saw 9,500 visitors, with another 12,000 on Bank Holiday Monday, which was on par with Lincolnshire County Council’s expectations.

The poppies will be on show until September 4 and represent the soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War.
