Heavy showers that could result in localised flooding are set to hit Lincolnshire over the course of this afternoon and evening.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for heavy rain from 3.30pm until 9pm – an unfortunate clash with Lincoln’s upcoming Elton John performance at the Lincolnshire Showground.

Up to 15 to 25 mm of rain could fall within an hour where these heavy showers occur, and 30 to 40 mm is possible in a two or three-hour spell.

Thunder and lightning is also possible, though not to the extent which was seen around the UK earlier this week.

However, the chief forecaster has said that some areas may be fortunate and miss the showers completely.

The showers are expected to die out later this evening.
