Colleagues and customers at Lincolnshire Co-op have raised almost £60,000 for a Multiple Sclerosis (MS) charity.

The Lincolnshire Co-op has raised an impressive £59,201 for its charity partner, the MS Society.

All the funds raised will go to people in Lincolnshire directly affected by MS for items or activities needed as a direct result of their MS.

There have been a number of events going on to collect as much money as possible for the charity including raffles, bake sales and pin badges sold in stores.

The MS Society is the leading UK charity fighting to improve treatment and care of people affected by multiple sclerosis, which is a neurological condition.

Area Fundraiser for MS Society Caroline Kew said: “Thanks to Lincolnshire Co-op, this donation will make a real difference to people’s lives as well as raising awareness of what it means to have MS.”

Charlie Short from Gainsborough was diagnosed with MS 39 years ago. He said: “The support and grants that MS Society provides gives us hope so I’m overwhelmed by this fantastic donation.”

Lincolnshire Co-op’s Community Engagement Manager Sam Turner said: “The hard work and effort everyone has shown this past year is really wonderful and I’m so pleased we’ve raised this fantastic amount.”
