Lincoln City held at Grimsby Town in Lincolnshire Derby

Grimsby Town 0-0 Lincoln City match report

Lincoln City were held to a 0-0 draw against bitter rivals Grimsby Town at Blundell Park.

The teams hadn’t met since December 2015, however neither side were able break the deadlock in the Lincolnshire Derby.

The first half started very slowly, however Lincoln got into the game after 20 minutes creating a couple of half-chances.

Harry Anderson’s low cross evaded everyone and Nathan Arnold had a shot blocked.

Lincoln’s Michael Bostwick came closest for the Imps, his header went wide after an inch-perfect Jordan Maguire-Drew cross.

Bostwick went close again when his volley was brilliantly saved by Grimsby’s  James McKeown, however Bostwick’s follow up went wide.

Maguire-Drew could have won the game for The Imps very late on, however his left-footed curling effort was well saved by the Mariners goalkeeper.

Grimsby’s two centre-halves Nathan Clarke and Danny Collins dealt with Lincoln’s aerial presence very well throughout the game, and the home side never really testing goalkeeper Josh Vickers.

Lincoln will now host Chesterfield on October 7.
