Drivers are being told to avoid Brayford Wharf East in Lincoln after a level crossing barrier was pulled off.
Network Rail has reported the barrier was damaged after a collision with a cyclist at around 4.20pm on Tuesday, September 5.
The barrier is lying across the road at the time of writing and and is completely detached from the leverage mechanism.
Police officers and Network Rail engineers are on the scene.
The road is expected to be closed for some time in both directions.
Network Rail said trains have been cautioned and are running but at a reduced speed.
It is not clear if the cyclist was injured in the crash.
One eyewitness told reporters they saw a cyclist “chance it” at the last minute and become tangled in the barrier.
