Police search for Staffy owner after girl, 4, suffers puncture wounds in Scunthorpe attack

Police are hunting for the owner.

A four-year-old girl has been left with puncture wounds to her face after being attacked by a black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier in Scunthorpe.

Paramedics were called to a house on Warley Road at 8.30pm on New Year’s Eve, with the girl taken to hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening.

The owner was not present at the time of the attack and the dog was “removed” from the house before police arrived.

Humberside Police have been unable to locate either the owner or the animal.

Chief Inspector Sharon Harrison said: “We need to speak to you and it’s better that you contact us so that we can investigate the incident fully.

“We know it is very difficult for you but avoiding speaking to us may make matters worse for you.”

Anyone who knows the owner or the dog’s whereabouts should call 101, quoting log 430 of December 31.
