Severe damage caused to four floors of Bairds Maltings factory in Grantham after fire

A devastating fire.

Severe damage has been caused to the Bairds Maltings in Grantham after a devastating fire started in the fifth and sixth floors of the factory.

Firefighters from across the whole of the county descended on the factory on Springfield Road after emergency services were called to the scene at 6.21pm on Monday, January 29.

Eyewitness pictures show plumes of smoke coming from the building as crews from Grantham, Newark, Bingham, Billingborough, Billinghay, Donington, Sleaford, Stamford, Lincoln and Market Rasen spent hours putting the blaze out.

The fire was extinguished in the early hours of Tuesday, January 30.

All crews have now left the scene.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have said that severe fire damage has been caused to the fifth and sixth floors of the maltings.

There has also been severe smoke damage to the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth floors of the factory.
