Lincoln Street Food Festival postponed, but Bratwurst hut and bar will stay

Snowed off, for now.

Lincoln’s Street Food Festival has been postponed due to heavy snow, but a mini event will still run.

The Lincoln BIG and Market Place Europe event was scheduled for March 1 to 4, but will now possibly take place in line with Discover Lincolnshire Weekend on March 22 to 25.

Many traders were set to travel from afar, but have been advised not to travel in the current snowy and icy weather conditions.

A condensed event will still run March 1 to 4, with the International Bar and Bratwurst huts set up on Tuesday and set to trade as normal.

An adapted menu will be on offer serving extra hot food and drink alternatives.

Market Place Europe spokesman Allan Hartwell said: “We have to think about the safety and welfare of our traders, staff and contractors and, given the continuing weather warnings across large parts of the UK, we have had to take this decision to postpone the event.

“We are, however, working with Lincoln BIG to reschedule the Festival for a later date.

Lincoln BIG Events & Marketing Assistant Jessica Wickham added: “With Festival traders travelling from as far afield as Scotland, Germany, Belgium and France, it was only sensible to postpone this event.

“Whenever we plan events, safety is always paramount – whatever the weather.  We echo the police and other professionals who are urging people not to travel until the road conditions improve.”
