Poor hygiene Indian restaurant closes

High Street Indian restaurant shuts down.

An Indian restaurant in Lincoln which failed a food hygiene inspection last year has shut down.

The Royal Tandoori based on High Street was inspected by City Council officers in November 2017 and given a food hygiene rating of ‘one’ with major improvement required.

The restaurant’s google listing now shows as ‘permanently closed’ and when visiting the site there is no sign of life with newspapers covering the windows.

The restaurant has mixed reviews with a rating of 3.4 stars from 38 people on Google and a score of 3.5 from 95 people on Trip Advisor.

On Google reviews The Royal Tandoori was given a five star rating as recently as just three months ago, but some people’s experiences were not as pleasant.

Liam wrote: “This is the worst Indian I have ever had the experience of trying. Foul smell of meat, foul salad, the lettuce, cucumber and lemon was brown like the decor of the restaurant.”

Tony Holland posted in the Facebook group You’re probably from Lincoln if… that it is “going to be a Polish restaurant apparently.”
