Van driver dies after A180 crash

Police remain at the scene

The driver of a van died at the scene after a crash with a parked lorry on the A180 caused the vehicle to catch fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A Mercedes Sprinter van collided with a parked HGV on the A180 junction 5 (M180) near to Croxton.

The driver of the HGV was not injured in the collision.

Emergency services remain at the scene to carry out collision investigation work and the road will remain closed until at least 10.30am on Tuesday, July 31, police said.

According to AA Traffic, the road had been closed since around 2.30am in both directions with eastbound re-opening at 4.45am, but westbound remains closed for investigation work and clear up.

Humberside Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident to contact them on 101 quoting log number 51 of July 31.
