Pensioner robbed while walking dog

Man arrested and in custody

A grandmother was assaulted and had her phone taken while she was taking her dog for a walk in Lincoln.

The 69-year-old woman was walking her dog on the Ermine West field on Wednesday at around 12pm when she was approached by a man.

She then heard him shout “give me that phone,” and when she refused, she says the man punched her in the back of the head.

The man took the phone from the woman when she fell to the floor.

A good Samaritan witnessed the incident before chasing the man and retrieving the stolen mobile phone.

The granddaughter of the woman told The Lincolnite that she was “really shaken up” by the incident and now has a lump on her head.

Lincolnshire Police has arrested a man in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The incident has left the lady very shaken. We have arrested a man aged 29 for an offence of robbery. He remains in custody.”
