Bomb disposal unit deployed near Lincolnshire school

Mortar found in garden

A bomb disposal unit was deployed close to a Lincolnshire primary school after an explosive device was reportedly found.

Specialists were spotted in School Lane, Mareham le Fen near Horncastle on both Monday and Tuesday along with several police officers.

Police attended a property in the area after the discovery of mortar in a garden. A nearby school, Mareham Le Fen Church of England Primary School, sent a message to parents to assure them there was no danger.

One person said they heard an explosion at around 9.15am on Tuesday, October 30, but this remains unconfirmed.
