Lincoln taxi driver has licence revoked

He was caught speeding three times in five months

A Lincoln taxi driver has had his private hire licence revoked after failing to disclose a number of motoring offences.

Graham Taylor, of Eagle Lane in Thorpe on the Hill appealed the decision to revoke his licence but it was upheld at Lincoln Magistrates Court.

The court heard that Taylor failed to disclose that he had three incidents where he was caught speeding in five months.

He had been in front of taxi sub-committees before for similar offences in 2009 and 2011.

Francesca Bell, Licensing Service Manager at City of Lincoln Council, said: “We are pleased that the court upholds the sub-committee’s decision to revoke the private hire licence.

“Through him acquiring 12 penalty points, after being on a speed awareness course and appearing before the sub-committee twice, he has not demonstrated that he is fit and proper.

It has been recommended that the former taxi driver should not apply for a new licence from the council for at least two years.
