“He will make a full recovery in due course”

A Lincolnshire police officer was allegedly violently assaulted on Wednesday night in what he described as his “worst moment in 21 years of policing”.

Patrolling sergeant for Grantham Jim Morrison posted on social media that the ‘brave’ individual ran away after the incident, which happened at around 10pm on Wednesday, October 3.

A 36-year-old man has been detained in custody in Grantham this morning awaiting interview whilst investigative leads are followed.

PS Jim Morrison told Lincolnshire Reporter that enquiries are ongoing and the suspect will be interviewed after various investigative leads are followed.

He said: “The suspect was detained at an address in the last couple of hours and is in custody at Grantham. The offences that brought us into contact with him in the first place will need dealing with as well.

“The officer was seen by a medical professional last night (Wednesday), but is now home with his family. He will make a full recovery in due course.”
