Bardney Bridge to close for three months from next week

However it will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists

A busy village bridge east of Lincoln will close for almost three months of repair works from next week.

Bardney Bridge will be closed to traffic for the majority of the time from Monday, April 15 to July 5. However, it will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.

Works will fix areas of deterioration affecting the strength of the bridge. Contractors will also re-paint and waterproof the bridge to help protect it from future damage.

Motorists will be diverted via Metheringham, Woodhall Spa and Horncastle.

As part of the refurbishment and closure of Bardney Bridge a temporary timetable will be in place for the PC Coaches service 10 from Lincoln to Horncastle and its service 16.

Executive Member for Highways at Lincolnshire County Council, Councillor Richard Davies, said previously: “It’s vital we make these repairs as soon as possible to ensure the bridge remains safe for people to use.

“The work is planned to start once everything is in place in April. That means we should be able to get it done before the busy harvest time.

“We realise there will still be significant disruption in the local area while the work is carried out, so we are looking at ways in which we can minimise the length of time the road is closed for.

“As always, we advise people to leave additional time for their journeys and use alternative routes wherever possible.”
