RAF Scampton coffee shop given low hygiene rating

An inspection was carried out this summer

A coffee shop at RAF Scampton has been given a low food hygiene score of ‘1’ after its latest inspection.

An inspector from West Lindsey District Council visited JJ’s Coffee Shop, which is based in the Barnes Wallis Community Centre at RAF Scampton, on June 26, 2019.

At a previous inspection in December 2015 it was given a score of ‘3’, but this dropped to ‘1’ after the latest visit.

Improvement is needed in ‘Hygienic food handling’ and major improvement is deemed necessary in the ‘Management of food safety’.

However,  the ‘Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building’ was deemed as generally satisfactory.

A re-visit is planned in August to see if it has improved from the previous inspection, but this won’t be to re-rate the premises.

JJ’s said on its Facebook page that it strives to offer “a fast, friendly and efficient service” and “all our food is freshly prepared and cooked to order, served in comfortable surroundings in a relaxed atmosphere”.

The Lincolnite tried to contact the coffee shop for a comment, but there was no response by the time of publication.
