Delays on A46 from next week during works

A four way traffic management system will be put in place

Work to remove overgrown shrubs and clear overhanging branches near the A46 Riseholme and Nettleham roundabout will cause disruption from next week.

The work is expected to last two and a half weeks, with temporary traffic lights in place from 8pm to 6am.

Daytime preparatory works start on September 30 at both roundabouts before a four way temporary traffic system is put in place for a week from October 7.

The traffic system will stay in place the following week from October 14 at the Riseholme Roundabout only.

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “We’re going to be carrying out some scheduled maintenance on the A46 starting next week which will see overgrown shrubs and trees overhanging the carriageway removed.

“Now is the best time of year to carry out this sort of work since we’re outside of nesting season and vegetation in the area is becoming dormant ahead of winter.

“The A46 is one of the county’s busiest roads, so this work will no doubt cause some disruption.

“However, we’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption, particularly carrying out the works during off-peak hours so those travelling during rush hour aren’t affected.”
