New Lincoln cafe to give away free coffee on opening day

Who can say no to free coffee?

A new Lincoln cafe will give away free hot drinks for everyone when it opens next week — and the owner is expecting big queues.

Cafe Pino is opening in the former jewellers on the corner of the High Street and Tentercroft Street on Tuesday, November 26.

To celebrate the big day, the cafe’s owner Memet Ozer plans to give away free coffee to everyone from 7am to 11am.

From then the cafe will serve hot drinks, fresh sandwiches, homemade soup, cakes, and pastries from 7am to 5pm every day of the week.

The cafe also plans to stay open later until 10pm during the Lincoln Christmas Market and promises to be a great new place to warm up.

Memet, 47-years-old and originally from Turkey, has spent over £100,000 on a full renovation of the building and has created seven new jobs.

He told The Lincolnite: “We are very happy with how the cafe looks. We did all of the decorations ourselves and we are proud of it.

“I will be so happy because I love this city. I moved here six months ago and met so many great people, it will be a great sociable job.

“This is my first business in the UK and I am looking forward to starting. It is all for my daughter back in Turkey.”

The owner hoped to open earlier in the year but it has taken a while to get planning permission to open the windows on the Tentercroft Street side of the unit.
