Man stabbed in Scunthorpe scrap

Another man was taken to hospital for treatment

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and another was taken to hospital after a suspected stabbing in Scunthorpe on Wednesday morning.

Humberside Police are appealing to trace key witnesses after they were called at 7.10am to reports of an altercation between two men, which had spilled into West Street.

Police believed it was an isolated incident involving two men who were known to each other.

One of the men suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing Grievous Bodily Harm.

Investigation team leader Colin Dring said: “I want to reassure those living and working in the area that this is believed to have been an isolated incident involving two men who were known to each other.

“As a result of our investigation we have identified that a number of cars drove past the men during the altercation and we are keen to speak to them about what they may have seen.

“If you were driving in the area from around 6.45am to 7.10am and believe you may have seen or heard the men, please call us on our non-emergency 101 line, quoting log number 82 of December 18.”
