Man arrested after Sleaford rooftop showdown

Police negotiators were called to the scene

Updated: Police have now named and charged a 26-year-old in relation to this incident.

A man was arrested after police negotiators persuaded him down from a rooftop in Sleaford over the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a domestic incident at a house in George Street just after 8am on Saturday, February 1.

A man in his 20s had climbed onto the roof of a terraced house and was causing damage to the roof, so police negotiators were called.

After lengthy dialogue with the man he came down a ladder provided by fire crews at around 9.30am.

The man was then arrested and taken into custody.  He has since been named as Nathan Stevenson, aged 26, of George Street in Sleaford. He has been charged with assault, criminal damage, assault of an emergency worker and affray.

He is due at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court during the morning of Monday, February 3.

Another man was also arrested at the scene for ‘obstructing police in the execution of their duty’. He was given a fixed penalty notice.
