Police find drugs and cash after chasing dealer in Scunthorpe

A foot chase with police ended up in people’s gardens

By Local Democracy Reporter

A 45-year-old man in Scunthorpe has been arrested for several crimes after police chased him and seized class A drugs and cash from his car.

Officers saw the vehicle travelling fast down Manor Road in Scunthorpe on Monday evening.

The man then parked outside a shop and ran from his car, sparking a foot chase between himself and many police officers through the Bottesford area.

He went through people’s gardens before police eventually caught and arrested him.

When the vehicle he left behind was seized, police found a large quantity of suspected cocaine, heroin and around £5,000 in cash.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, but officers later arrested him for more in custody.

Police arrested him on suspicion of money laundering, driving without insurance and a further traffic offence, alongside his drug charge.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “The man was seen to run through multiple gardens and disturb a lot of residents in the area.

“We want to thank these members of the public that assisted us by giving us access through their properties and gardens, which resulted in his subsequent arrest.

“We want to offer reassurance to the community that this is believed to have been an isolated incident.”

The 45-year-old man has been released under investigation while enquires continue.
