Travellers break gates to pitch on Lincoln South Common

Travellers have found a new pitch in Lincoln, setting up in the South Common area on Tuesday afternoon,

The caravans and mobile homes were photographed by a resident passing by just after midday on August 18.

One of the gates at the entrance to South Common has been broken to gain access to the area.

A gate has been broken at the entrance point.

It is unclear whether this is related to the previous caravan group that was removed from The Lawn car park.

A van was spotted driving on South Common on Tuesday.

A spokesperson at City of Lincoln Council, said: “We have been made aware of an unauthorised encampment on land at South Common.

“Alongside Lincolnshire Police, we will visit the site and a letter requesting they vacate the site immediately will be issued.

“We will continue to work with police to deal with this matter within the appropriate legislative framework.”
