Skegness hotels to close doors to asylum seekers: A step forward or a political ploy?

As two hotels in Skegness stop housing asylum seekers, questions arise about the government’s long-term plan

With record high backlogs in the immigration system to tackle, Boston & Skegness MP Matt Warman has welcomed the government’s announcement that two hotels in his constituency will no longer be used to house asylum seekers.

Immigration Minister and Newark MP Robert Jenrick announced on Tuesday that fifty hotels housing asylum seekers would return to their original purpose and close for migrants awaiting processing by January next year.
