From managerial merry-go-rounds to legal headaches and history-making cup runs, 2023 has been far from quiet for the top football teams in Lincolnshire. Grimsby Town became FA Cup heroes and Lincoln City recorded their 2nd highest league finish in 40 years, but Scunthorpe United endured a year from hell for the most part.

Football has always been a staple of culture in Lincolnshire, but rarely has our county been so well represented at a high level than it was in 2023 — whether it be in domestic league action or in the game’s oldest cup competition.
