Lincoln MP joins call for fairer council funding from government

Councils blindsided by cost of living pressures and unexpected National Living Wage increase

The MP for Lincoln has joined calls from politicians across the country to offer greater financial support for local councils, in a fresh bid to avoid a £4 billion shortfall in the coming years.

The letter, which is addressed to both the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and the Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove, urges central government to “ensure that the funding needs of local authorities in our areas are properly recognised during the upcoming Local Government Finance Settlement.”
