Full English celebrations arrive in Lincoln

Full English: Theatre performances, festivals and markets will be put on for Lincoln’s Full English celebrations.

Lincoln’s Full English celebrations will be making their return in September with theatre performances, festivals and markets.

A free Morris Dancing festival will take place throughout Lincoln on Saturday September 1. The festival will see 250 dancers across Lincoln sing, dance to music and clash sticks in colourful costumes from 10.30am-12.30pm in the city centre, 2pm-4pm around uphill Lincoln and 3pm-4pm at Minster Yard

Lincoln Drill Hall will host adaptations of The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde at 7.30pm on Friday, and Emma by Jane Austen next Saturday at 7.30pm.

The hall will also host Garlic Theatre’s The Magnificent Flying Machine, a children’s puppet show, next Saturday at 1.30pm.

A craft market will start at 9am and the Artists’ Market at 10am in uphill Lincoln that day with over 30 stalls.

Weekend at the Asylum, the biggest Steampunk Festival in Europe, will also be coming to Lincoln on September 8-9, featuring live music, theatrical shows and presentations.

The city’s Bailgate area will host a Village Street Party on September 8 from 2pm, featuring music, theatre and a fete to raise money for St Mary’s Church. The party will include the HeArt of Lincoln art exhibition in the nave, featuring winning entries that best capture the Cathedral Quarter through the ages.

Lincoln Theatre Royal will close the celebrations with Lincoln’s very own Last Night Of The Proms on September 8 from 7.30pm, with an evening of music from it’s resident Symphony Orchestra.

Lincoln Drill Hall will also host their own Last Night of the Proms that night from 8pm, featuring performances from young Lincolnshire musicians and traditional classics live from Albert Hall.
