Rapist sentenced to 25 years for offences against children

He had previously denied all 13 charges

A man found guilty of serious sexual offences against two children has today (4 February) been handed a sentence of 25 years.

Neil Jones, 55, formerly of Hainton Avenue, Grimsby, had denied all 13 charges when appearing at Lincoln Crown Court, but was found guilty of every offence.

Jones was sentenced for four counts of rape and five of indecent assault against the first victim, who was under 16 years of age at the time. The offending took place between 2000 and 2004.

He was also guilty of four counts of causing or inciting a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, between 2016 and 2018.

Detective Constable Dave Ziller, of our Protecting Vulnerable Persons Unit, said: “Firstly, I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victims and their families in this case. Their courage has enabled us to bring to justice a man guilty of sickening crimes against children.

“While court outcomes may never offer full closure to those victims, I hope that there is some comfort in knowing that he has finally been held accountable for his actions.

“The first set of offences date back more than 20 years, but that did not deter us from pursuing the case. We will investigate, provide support to the victim, and bring offenders to justice.”

Please note that we do not have a custody image of Neil Jones.
