People holidaying in Lincoln will have a new way to stay this summer as Hartsholme Country Park gets its first glamping pod.

Set to be installed next week, the pod will offer sleeping for two, tables and chairs, a porch area and an electric hook-up.

The pod is handmade using birch and pine wood and was provided by Lincs Pods, a family business which has been in joinery since 1948.

Donald Nannestad, Portfolio Holder for Recreational Services and Health, said: “This is a first for Hartsholme, but depending on its success, it may be not be the last.

“Hartsholme Country Park is a lovely place to stay, and this new pod gives people a comfortable option if they don’t happen to own a caravan or motorhome.”

What do a pink gorilla, a pink Spider Man and a pink Power Ranger have in common?

The answer: They’re all costumes in the running to be worn by Carl Biggs, a cyclist from Lincoln, when he rides coast to coast for charity.

People can vote on which costume they want Carl to wear, among other outfits, by heading to his Facebook charity page and “liking” the picture of the costume that they want him to wear.

The costume with the most likes is the one that Carl will wear for 24 hours as he cycles 140 miles from Whitehaven to Tynermouth on September 12 to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

So far, Carl has raised £310 towards his £1,000 target, and further donations can be made on his Just Giving page.
