The Showroom youth activity centre is now offering free membership for 2012 to encourage Lincoln’s young people to stay off the streets.

The Tritton Road centre runs club nights for age groups 11 to 25, putting on a number of activities such as football and pool tournaments to arts and music groups.

Over 2,000 members signed up in 2011, since The Showroom was opened by Olympic hero Sir Steve Redgrave in April last year.

Josh Woodcock, Activity Development Officer at The Showroom, said: “We decided that offering free membership would entice more young people to come down and try out the facilities we have on offer at The Showroom and increase the number using the centre on a regular basis.

“After speaking with our young members about what they would like from The Showroom this year we will be launching two new youth club nights in the coming months.

“On these nights we will offer young people unlimited, structured and free activities for just £1 entry, which we think will be beneficial to the young people.”

Members are free to use the facility every day within its opening hours, from 9am to 9pm on weekdays, 10am to 5pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.

Special packages are also available for schools, youth groups and for team building.

Children under 11 are welcomed to The Showroom during the weekend with parents and families welcome to join in.
