Tennyson Wharf will be the new name of a care home on Park Lane in Burton Waters after a competition was run by the local community.

Local pub owner Matthew Gillet came up with the winning name and received a cheque for £500. He later chose to donate the winnings to local group, Witham Hill Gymnastics Club.

The name ‘Tennyson Wharf’ was put forward as poet Lord Tennyson grew up in this part of Lincolnshire.

Matthew and Head Coach Jaime Saunders were presented with the cheque at the Woodcocks pub in Burton Waters. The pub, which is managed by Matthew, is located opposite Tennyson Wharf Care Home.
