Lincolnshire Police have charged a local man for a so-called ‘revenge porn’ offence. This is one of the first such cases in the county.

Twenty-eight-year-old Stacey Shenton of Winston Drive in Skegness was charged on December 10 with two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs/film with intent to cause distress and also one charge of voyeurism.

The offences took place in Skegness last June, police said.

Shenton has been bailed to appear before Skegness Magistrates Court on January 12, 2016.

Revenge porn involves someone posting, or threatening to post, private intimate photographs or videos of a former partner online.

Following pressure from victims, politicians and campaigners, in April this year posting revenge porn on the internet became a specific criminal offence in England and Wales. A bill was also adopted in Scotland in October.

Jason Asagba, one of the first people convicted under the new law, was given an 18-month conditional discharge in September.

Under the law, sharing sexual photos or videos of someone else without their consent can result in up to two years in jail.
