Ten people in Lincoln will have their faces projected onto Lincoln Castle as part of a spectacular laser and light show this October for the Frequency digital festival.

To enter the selection process, all you need to do is answer a question on the Frequency Festival website: Which Bishop of Lincoln was present at Runnymede when Magna Carta was sealed in 1215?

The ten winners will be invited to an afternoon of filming at a high-tech studio at the University of Lincoln, where their faces will be filmed ahead of being projected onto the walls of Lincoln castle during the show.

Entitled The One, The Few and The Many, the large-scale, immersive light installation has been specially commissioned for Lincoln Castle by Threshold Studios with support from Arts Council England.

Taking place on the evenings of Friday 30 and Saturday, October 31, it will mark the grand finale of Frequency 2015, Lincoln’s third biannual festival of digital culture.

It is the last major arts event in the city’s year-long Magna Carta 800 celebrations.

The show will playfully illustrate ideas of power and engagement that are represented in Magna Carta. It will also acknowledge the recent revolution that technology has brought about in the spread of ideas and power around the world.

During the show, an interactive laser grid will allow three groups of people – the one, the few and the many of the title – to stand in ‘circles of power’, causing knock-on effects in the light display.

Founder of seeper, Evan Grant, was brought up in Lincolnshire before founding the studio in Shoreditch in 1998.

It is the first time that he has been commissioned for a display in Lincoln and Grant hopes that his family, including his grandmother, will have the opportunity to see his work.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed Jan Sobieraj as its new chief executive after Jane Lewington stepped down in August.

Jan will take over from Kevin Turner who is acting chief executive.

He is currently managing director at NHS Leadership Academy and has over 24 years experience in the NHS, of which 13 years have been as chief executives for various organisations including an acute hospital trust and a commissioner.

One of his other roles was as chief executive for South Lincolnshire Healthcare NHS Trust from 1997 – 2001.

Ron Buchanan, trust chairman said: “Following a rigorous recruitment process, I am delighted to announce Jan will be joining ULHT as our new chief executive. Jan brings a wealth of leadership experience across a diverse range of organisations in the NHS including national roles.

“ULHT has made significant progress in improving the quality and safety of care over the last two years. We need to continue to do this and transform services alongside our partners.

“Jan’s proven capabilities will be crucial in leading the organisation through the next stage of its development in an increasingly challenging environment for the NHS.

“Since Jane Lewington retired, Kevin Turner, acting CEO, has been doing a great job and has been capably leading the Trust in an interim capacity and will continue until Jan formally joins us.”

Jan Sobieraj said: “I am delighted to be joining ULHT. I have previously worked in Lincolnshire and the great staff and people in the county were a big draw in taking the job.

“I am very aware of the challenges ULHT and the wider NHS faces. This creates a great opportunity for staff and patients, and it will be a privilege to lead ULHT during this time.
