Lincoln strongman Dave Johnson will pull an 18-tonne lorry to raise money for The Salvation Army and an ill child.

Dave will pull the lorry at ONE NK in North Hykeham at 2:30pm on Saturday, December 16.

He is raising money for ill child Felicity Buckley as well as Birdies Snack Shack, who will be feeding homeless people this Christmas.

The 18-tonne lorry Dave will be pulling.

Earlier on in the year, Dave pulled a truck and two firefighters raising money for a number of charities.

Dave will once again be doing this charity event in memory of his good friend Mark Browne who passed away in 2012 after a battle with cancer.

Dave told The Lincolnite: “Everyone deserves a Christmas meal, however it’s easy to get in a situation where you end up homeless.

“Many young people end up there due to abuse or poor home life, it becomes a downward spiral and it’s difficult to make a start to improve when people are content to not help and step on people to get where they want to get.

“Through my time on the door of Revolution, I saw many homeless people through the year, some young some old, many polite and would wish a safe night.”

Children at Lincoln County Hospital received a special visit from players at Lincoln City Football Club.

Manager Danny Cowley and several first-team players including Alex Wodyard and Sean Raggett raised £300 to buy gifts for children in the Rainforest and Safari wards on Monday, December 11.

“It was a nice afternoon for us, and it was great of Lincoln County Hospital to invite us here. It’s really important for us as individuals to do this, and as a group,” said Danny Cowley.

“It’s nice for us to be here and share the moments with the kids. It’s never nice to be ill, but even more so around the Christmas period, so it’s great to be here and put smiles on their faces.”

“They do such a fantastic job, don’t they? We should all be very proud of our nurses and for us if we can put a smile on their faces then we’re obviously really pleased to do so.”

Lincoln City are currently sixth in League Two and play third-placed Accrington Stanley at Sincil Bank on Saturday (December 16).
