Back on a sunny day on July 6, 1967, a petrol tanker faced every driver’s nightmare – brake failure. As it hurtled down Lindum Hill, the tanker lost control, flipped over at the bottom near the old Sessions House, and unleashed a river of fuel into the drains and along Broadgate. The city held its breath, teetering on the brink of a potential explosion.

A proud Lincoln father believes his daughter Rebecca “is one of the youngest kids to pass level 5” at swimming — and hopes one day she will be “a future Olympic medallist”.

Rebecca, 7, was born via water birth and her parents Paulo and Nellie Batista said “she wanted to carry on her love of water,” and swim like their other children. They have been taking her swimming since she was just two-years-old and she continues to make great progress.
