A new business group called Lincoln Young Professionals has started with the future of Lincoln’s economy at its forefront.

Andrew Tucker, who moved to Lincoln only four months ago, has started the group with the intention of expanding chances for young people within the business world.

Tucker (pictured) said: “Lincoln Young Professionals is aimed towards providing opportunities for young people in Lincoln. I feel that Lincoln is great for students, but doesn’t accommodate as well for graduates or entrepreneurs.

“I started it with the concept to form a collective of young, career minded individuals who want to succeed in business.

“Right now, my short-term goal is to get as many people to join in.”

Aspirations and goals

The group was first created on Facebook on August 10 and its immediate aims will be decided collectively by all those who join.

“Facebook has been a great way in creating interest. The growth of the page has been really organic and it is wonderful to see it attract a number of people.

“I have great ambition for this venture and believe that, with the involvement of people, it could be just what Lincoln needs. With people from all different avenues of business hopefully joining, it has the potential to change a lot.

“Currently, the group’s short-term objectives are to be decided. The long-term result will be whatever we choose it to be as a group.

“I am excited to see the results and I am very happy how quickly it has grown. I will give it my best shot and hope that people will want to get on board with what I am trying to do.

“Anyone is free to come along to the meet and greet and it will be an informal and casual event to really kick off the group.”

For anyone interested in Lincoln Young Professionals, there will be a meet and greet session on August 18, downstairs at The Apple Tree on the High Street at 8:30 pm.

Cracking production: Steven Hatton (L), Neil Baker (R) outside their offices in Lincoln.

Electric Egg, a Lincoln production company, will have a feature film watched by around half a million when it airs on national television this year.

Into the Wind, their first self-produced feature-length documentary, has been acquired for UK broadcast by the Yesterday channel, part of the UKTV group.

The film captures the life and wartime experiences of former Bomber Command veterans from the Second World War.

It features interviews with former aircrew originating from Poland, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and the United Kingdom.

Electric Egg, whose offices are in the Enterprise @ Lincoln building, have been in operation since 2005 and is composed of founders Steven Hatton and Neil Baker.

Hatton said: “I find human stories very interesting and found that your usual war film was often too concentrated on the machinery, dates and weapons.

“I felt they that didn’t have the intimacy that these compelling stories deserve. Our film does not have a narrator and it is entirely based on bomber crews and war veterans.

“This is the biggest project so far in the history of our company and we are very proud of it. I believe that our showing of these inter-woven stories do them justice.”

Lights, camera, action

Neil Baker said: “On these kinds of projects there is usually a huge number of people involved, and with it mainly being just the two of us, it was challenging work.

“The only thing we did not do was the music which was done by local composer Hugh Cowling. He is excellent and definitely one to watch out for in the future.

“Because all of the people we interviewed were over 85, unfortunately some of them did not live to see the end of production. We have been told by families that their relatives would have been proud of our film.

“We have heard great things so far from those involved in the film, let’s just hope others can be as appreciative of our work.

Into the Wind will be aired on Yesterday in November 2011 and be released on DVD by the end of the year.
