The warning, which is in place until 6pm, predicts constant rain across much of central, southern and eastern England, moving eastwards throughout the day.

Forecasters warn of a risk of flooding and lightning strikes: “At this stage, there remains uncertainty in the location of the most disruptive thunderstorms, although the area south of a line from The Wash to Bristol is considered to be at greatest risk during Friday morning.”
