Police name student found dead [U2]

Found dead: The Lincoln student discovered dead in his university accommodation was named as Thomas Prangley.

Update 2 @ 12:06 on June 11th — Police have named the student found dead earlier this week as Thomas Prangley, 22-years-old, from Carmarthen, Wales.

The post mortem was carried out on the deceased was inconclusive regarding the cause of death. Police now await the results of toxicology tests which may take several weeks.

Lincolnshire Police are still treating the death as unexplained, but are not treating it as suspicious.

An inquest into Thomas’s death will be opened early next week, but will be adjourned, date to be fixed, to allow for the completion of the police investigation.

Update 1 @ 16:27 on June 8th — The University of Lincoln issued the following statement regarding the incident:

“We are deeply saddened to hear about the tragic death of a 22-year-old student in the Courts accommodation. Our thoughts are with his family, who have been informed, and his friends.”

“As this is a private matter for the student’s family, we will not be issuing a further statement,” a university spokesperson added.

Original @ 15:42 on June 8th — A 22-year-old man was discovered dead at 11.55am this morning in his student accommodation at the University of Lincoln Brayford Pool campus.

The cause of the young man’s death is unclear, but Lincolnshire Police say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
