Three charged for shooting at swans [U]

Swan shooters: Three men were arrested for possession of firearms, after shooting at swans on the Brayford from their balcony.

Police charged three people with firing a Classic Army Airsoft air weapon beyond the premises of Grantavon House in Brayford Wharf East.

Kevin Douglas Scheepers (22), of Charles Street West, Lincoln, Richard Dean Whiston (22), of Smith Street, Lincoln and Jared Bradley White (18), of West Parade, Lincoln, have all been charged with the offence.

They have been released on police bail to appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court on August 27.

Three young local men were arrested on Thursday, July 8, for possession of firearms with intent to cause fear of violence.

The men, two aged 22, and one 18, were shooting at swans from a window/balcony towards the Brayford Pool from Grantavon House, on Brayford Wharf East.

The incident came to police notice at about 8:50pm, after a member of the public reported the shootings.

An armed response team was deployed and the three men were arrested under section 16 of the Firearms Act.

Two weapons, believed to be BB type guns, were seized.

The men were interviewed and released on bail to return to the Lincoln police station at a later date.
