Firefighters cycle to raise money for charity

Cycling the distance: Lincoln firefighters are cycling to raise money for two charities this Friday.

— Update @ 6.13pm on September 13 The fire crew from Blue Watch raised £282.50 at this event, and this will now join contributions from other fire services in support of Help for Heroes and the Fire Fighters Charity.

— Original Firefighters in the city will be undergoing charity bike ride at Morrisons on September 3. The Blue Watch crew from Lincoln South’s fire station will be pedalling in the supermarket’s foyer to raise money for two charities — Help for Heroes and The Fire Fighters Charity.

Station Manager Dave Gilbert said:This event will be one of many taking place by firefighters all over the country, who are raising money for these two worthy causes with a whole host of community events, including car washes and physical challenges.

The money raised will be collected next week by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, some of whom will be driving a fire engine around all the mainland fire service headquarters, from John O ‘Groats to Lands End.

The Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue’s Community Fire Safety team will also be around while the bike ride takes place assisting and fundraising, as well as raising awareness of road and fire safety issues.
