Lincoln orienteers finish 5th in UK trials

Achievement: Lincoln’s Orienteering Group managed to secure the fifth spot a national competition in Yorkshire.

The 41 members of the Lincoln Orienteering Group finished fifth in the Compass Sport Trophy Final trials in Burbage Moor, South Yorkshire.

The group is now preparing for the next Compass Sport qualifier in January, and are hoping to improve on their recent performance and finish in the top three.

Alison Wright, who was part of the team, said orienteering is a challenging outdoor adventure sport that exercises both the mind and body.

“There were some great performances on the final day of the competition from Joanne Neil, Tanya Taylor and Bella Williams which helped to secure 5th place.”

“To finish 5th in the UK in a national competition is a huge achievement for Lincoln Orienteering Group,” added Janet Inman from Lincolnshire Sports Partnership.

“It’s showed that the new training nights that were introduced this year have been useful, and we wish them the best of luck in the next competition.”

Lincoln Orienteering Group train every Thursday, and welcome new members.
