Lincoln coach receives national award

Winning streak: Gary Quittenton has won another award for coaching at a national level.

A coach from Lincoln has won a national sport award at the Canoe England Volunteer and Recognition Awards 2010.

Gary Quittenton coaches the Lincoln Canoe Club, and recently won Coach of the Year at the Lincolnshire Sports Awards 2010.

He collected the Impact in Coaching in a Short Period award at the ceremony in Liddington at the beginning of the month.

Quittenton said: “I knew I’d been nominated by the club, but I certainly wasn’t expecting to win.

“It was wonderful when they called my name and it was great to be recognised; for me personally, but also for Lincoln Canoe Club.”

CEO of Lincolnshire Sports Partnership Janet Inman was not surprised Quittenton had picked up another award.

She said: “This is fantastic news for Gary.

“We were so pleased to award him the Coach of the Year award at the Sports Awards and this award from Canoe England recognises his talent as a coach even further.

“We are very proud that a coach from Lincolnshire has been recognised on a national level.”
