Lincoln County Hospital will be getting a new MRI scanner to help improve diagnostic services for patients.
The Siemens Magnetom Avanto T Class MRI scanner cost £1.4 million and provides higher quality, more complex imaging than the previous hospital machine.
The scanner can be used for blood vessels scanning without the prior patient injection and breast screening, neither of which the old machine could do.
As well as the scanner, access to it from the changing area has been improved, helping patients keep their privacy and dignity.
Radiology Services Manager Steve Brown, said: “This is an exciting time for us and we are very much looking forward to developing the MRI service at the hospital.
“This high specification equipment will enable us to undertake a greater range of complex procedures, supported by the expertise of our radiology team.”

As people prepare to go out more in the run up to Christmas, a Lincoln woman who created the globally renowned Ask For Angela not-for-profit scheme is proud to have made the county, and the world, a safer place.
The scheme, launched by Hayley Crawford (pictured above) in 2016, aims to ensure that anyone who is feeling vulnerable or unsafe is able to get the support they need. This could be on a night out, a date, meeting friends and other situations, and it is available to everyone of all genders to help them feel safer.
