— Update on March 24 @ 2.20pm: Police arrested Darren Peter Boulton (38), of Gray Street, Lincoln, in connection with this incident.
He was questioned by detectives and this morning he was charged with burglary in relation to the theft of £800. worth of cigarettes from Martin’s newsagent in Sincil Street, Lincoln, on March 23.
He has been released on conditional police bail to appear at Lincoln Magistrates Court on April 11.
Police are looking for thieves who broke into a Lincoln city centre shop and stole cigarettes.
The burglary took place sometime last night at Martin’s newsagents on Sincil Street.
An offender smashed a window with a brick to get in and then stole a large quantity of cigarettes and tobacco from the kiosk behind the counter.
The quantity and value of the stolen goods is not yet known.
Tobacco duty rates are set to increase by 2% above inflation as of today at 6pm.
